My 147 Academy was invited back to Austria on the 27th and 28th of April to prepare the Austrian National Team players for the upcoming European Snooker Championship in Sofia, Bulgaria in June.
This two day cue zone was organised by the Austrian Billiards & Snooker Association and was held in the city of Vienna at the Austrian Cue Sports Academy.
In attendance were top Austrian Junior players Florian Nüssle, Manuel Pomwenger and Dominik Scherübl and they were joined by Paul Schopf, Andreas Ploner, Richard Kornberger, Ebrahim Baghi and Alexander Trinkl who will be representing Austria in the upcoming European Men and Masters Championships. The other team member Markus Pfistermüller was unable to attend this Cue Zone.
The players practiced on Saturday from 10am - 6pm and on Sunday from 9.30am - 4.30pm and at this cue zone I focused on fine tuning the players playing technique. I also worked with the players on their cue ball control and their match-play snooker as I feel it is key in helping them develop a good tactical and safety game. They also practiced various Break Building and Long Potting training routines.
Each player received a DVD of their coaching action plus the key points needed to improve. It was a honour to train the players again as their commitment is always superb. I will be attending the European Championships so I will be able to keep an eye on the players.
As usual the ABSA Sport Director Christian Fock and local coach Chau Zi Kim were on hand to assist me and the players throughout the weekend. I would like to thank the Austrian Association and I really believe the standard is improving and I look forward to holding another cue zone in July to monitor the players improvement.
