I recently travelled to New Delhi to hold a snooker training workshop in India and it was hailed a great success by all the players and organisers. It was a big honour to be invited by Vivek Pathak from Cue Sports India to conduct the workshop to train the Indian players. All standard of players from beginners to professional level attended the workshop which was held in Top Shot Snooker & Pool Academy in New Delhi and it was sponsored by Wiraka, Hainsworth, Alantis Cues and Megapol.
I would like to personally thank all the sponsors for making the workshop a great success and having the training conditions top class helped me in making a professional training seminar. One of the all-time greats Geet Sethi who won the World Billiards Championship eight times travelled to New Delhi to view how PJ conducted the training course and he was very impressed with the quality of coaching and training material the players received.
I worked on videoing the players and fine tuning their playing technique using new laser technology which identifies alignment and develops the correct address position. I really enjoyed training the players and the organisers did everything to make my visit in India a memorable and enjoyable stay. Aditya Mehta will compete on this year’s main tour attended the workshop. Aditya said that it is fantastic to see PJ coming to India to train Indian players and he coaches myself and Lucky Vatnani who were both on the main tour last season.
PJs guidance and training programs have helped us both perform at our highest level and now more Indian players have same opportunity which is good for Indian snooker. During the workshop I fine-tuned his technique and designed a training program to suit his needs to play his best on the main tour this coming season. Every player who attended the workshop had their playing technique analysed and they practiced my training routines during the week and all players achieved higher and higher scores every day in the routines.
One player to really impress me was 14 year old Keerath Bhandall who is a young Indian lady player who has a lot of talent and I believe she will become one of the top lady players in India and Asia over the next five years.
Training Program
The players worked on their Cue Ball Control, Break-building, Safety game, Long Potting and I was delighted to see all the players working so hard on mastering each shot. I believe each player was technically and mentally better from attending the workshop. The players received Dvds of their training sessions and a CD with all my Academy training books, Psychology booklets and Audio along with preparation plans for competitions. The Players also received a beautiful framed certificate for attending the workshop
PJ said it was great to return to coach in India and it is a big honour to develop some of the future stars of the game. Coaching is now becoming more popular in India. My Academy players Aditya Mehta and Lucky Vatnani now competing on the WSA main tour and it is given all the Indian players the belief to train hard to follow in their footsteps. Finally I wish all the players the best of luck and I would like to thank everyone I met in India for everything they done during the workshop.
