Last weekend I returned to the beautiful ÖSBV Academy in Vienna to hold my first Camp of 2025 on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of February. This training camp which was again organised by the Austrian Billiards & Snooker Association.
Venue
The training facilities in the ÖSBV Academy in Austria was perfect after the academy hosted a successful Q Tour event in December. I was delighted to see all the players so motivated to improve at this camp. The players training performances were excellent and I am confident, we are developing the Austrian level at each camp.
The Players
A mixture of top Austrian ranked players plus up and coming players were invited to the ÖSBV Academy when Lukas Stötzer, Josef Elias Wimmer, Patrick Stift, Jerome Liedtke, Thomas Janszo, Paul Schopf, Florian Toth, Oskar Charlesworth, Thomas Brandl, Peter Lanzersdorfer, Emil Becker, David Zanol and National ladies champion Stephanie Doležal attended training.
High Quality Camp
This camp we concentrated my specific academy drills focusing on Break-Building, Mini Breaks, Open Breaks, Cue Ball Control, Long Potting and Match-play plus we held a 10min Shoot-Outs.
On Day 1 Oskar Charlesworth was on fire when he won the Scoring event, Josef Elias Wimmer won the shootout. Lukas Stötzer won the Match-Play event and Jerome Liedtke won the cue ball control event.
There were a number of top class breaks with Paul Schopf making the highest break with a fantastic 140, Oskar Charlesworth 138, Jerome Liedtke 137, Oskar Charlesworth 133, 129, 121,107, Thomas Janszo 106, Paul Schopf 105, 118, 126, 101 and Lukas Stötzer 105 and Emil Becker 113.
On day 2 Oskar Charlesworth again won the Scoring event while Emil Becker won the Shoot Out.
Coaching Program
All the players received a copy of a mind fitness booklet on dealing with self-pressure. The players had their technique profiled and got feedback on what fundamentals they need to work on. The players also bring home a copy of their videos to improve at home.
Mental Fitness Seminars
National Coach Chau Zi Kim gave a number of Mental Training seminar on becoming mentally stronger which will help them develop more in the future.
Training Aids
The latest training aids were used to enhance the sessions like the Mini Domin Eye, Master Doctor, QLine, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser and the EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get the players on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in their delivery.
