My 147 Academy was invited to India this month to hold two coaching workshops in the magical cities of Mumbai and Pune. Twenty-one players in total attended a two week training course to improve their game which was organised by fellow World Snooker Coach Derek Sippy and the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra. The snooker players travelled from all across India and my main aim was to develop the correct fundamentals in getting them to the next level by improving their playing technique, break building, long potting and safety game which will help to improve their state ranking. The first workshop was held in the PJ Hindu Gymkhana in Mumbai which contains seven snooker tables and numerous cricket and hockey pitches. It is no wonder why India is leading country in both sports after watching them train throughout the week.
Derek Sippy said that it was great to see PJ coaching in India and his coaching style is excellent and his training programs are now used all over the world. He uses the latest technology which will help our players remember the training and be more successful in the future.
The second workshop was held 4 hours away in the city of Pune in the PYC Hindu Gymkhana on three beautiful match snooker tables overlooking numerous cricket pitches which train the future stars of the game of Indian Cricket. All of the 21 players were guided through my 147 academy training programs and all areas of their technique were recorded and fine-tuned. They practiced all of my practice routines and the players received a DVD of the sessions and a certificate of attendance on the final day. I really enjoyed both workshops and Derek, Salil and his team did everything to make it a huge success and their organisation is very professional in how the workshops were held. I believe every player improved by the end of the workshop and the players trained very hard and their commitment made it a pleasure the train them all.
The Association organised great workshops and I really enjoyed training the players who listened very good to all my instruction and their commitment made it an honour to coach them. I was presented on the final day with a beautiful plaque by Rajan Khivnasara who is the Vice President of the host association on holding a successful workshop and he echoed that the players totally enjoyed the experience of being coached and guided throughout the workshops. I would like to personally thank Derek Sippy, Salil Deshpande and the Billiards & Snooker Association of Maharashtra for inviting me to India and I look forward to holding more workshops in 2013 in one of the most amazing countries in the world.
