This week I had the pleasure of training one of the best young players in the world when Nicolas Mortreux from France travelled with his mum to the SBI HQ Academy of Excellence in Carlow in the Republic of Ireland.
Nicolas is the current National Men’s Snooker Champion and plays QTour, QSchool events plus he is preparing upcoming QTours and the EBSA European Championships in October in Portugal.
Years of Development
I have coached Nicolas since he was 8 years old and I am so happy to see him develop his game so much over the years. I really believe he can improve his break building and shot selection and he will be a match for anyone in the world in the future.

Camp Structure
During this camp, I worked on fine tuning his break building skills and developing good fundamentals in his technique, Rest Shots and Cue Delivery. Nicolas was videoed during each session and he brings home all the video action to study more. I was very impressed with Nicolas attitude and work rate.
Nicolas said “It was brilliant to come to Ireland to see PJ. The SBI Academy is perfect training facility and it was great to attend the Irish Camp with Noel Flannery and PJ on Sunday.
High Breaks
- Spencer Break 115, 110
- Cage Break 113, 131, 142
- Vienna Break 102, 129

Training Aids
I used the latest training aids to enhance the session like the QLine, Mini Domin Eye, Master Doctor, Str8aim G-5 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get him on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in his delivery.
