147 Academy player Andreas Ploner from Innsbruck won the 2013 Austrian Senior Snooker Championships in the 15 Red Snooker Club in Vienna on Saturday and Sunday the 25th & 26th of May. In the final Andreas beat fellow Academy player Paul Schopf from Wells 4 frames to 3 in an exciting final to claim his second National title in a row. Andreas now qualifies to play in the 2013 IBSF World Amateur in Latvia next November.
The Semi-final had wins for Andreas over fast improving Markus Pfistermüller from Wells 4 frames to 2 and Paul beat experienced player Georg Schlager from Vienna 4 frames to nil. As team coach for the Austrian Association I am very pleased to see the high standard in this year’s championships which goes well for the future of building up Austrian Snooker to be a force in European and World Snooker.
I would like to thank The Austrian Snooker Association for inviting me to train the National team. I look forward to meeting all the players in August for another camp and big well done to everyone in making the event a great success.
