On Tuesday the 13th of November I held a coaching day in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow for the Republic Of Ireland players who will compete in the 2012 IBSF World Championships next week in Bulgaria. Johnny Williams, Greg Casey and Brendan O Donoghue will compete in the Men’s Championship and Mark Tuite and Brendan Cooney will fly the Irish flag in the Master’s Championship in Sofia from the 24th November to the 2nd of December against the best players from all around the world.
I trained the players from 11am to 4pm on my specific routines on all areas of the game. I replaced some of the players tips and gave advice on how to prepare their best in the final few days before we fly to Bulgaria. All the players received a DVD of their session to study more. All they players listened great and their commitment was excellent throughout the day and I really wished them good luck in Bulgaria. Earlier in the week RIBSA received the new official IBSF world rankings and RIBSA are ranked in the top five in each rankings with our Republic of Ireland Men’s players ranked at No.3. We are ranked at 4th in the Under 21 category and 5th in the Masters division which is something that I am very proud of.

Mark Tuite said ” It was well worth the long drive up from Killarney today to have a session with PJ and I now have the main points to work on to prepare for Bulgaria. He thanked RIBSA for holding the training day as all the players feel these special training days are helping us achieve the good results in the major championships”

Greg Casey said ” PJ has the special way to get you in line and make you feel like you are never going to miss. He notices the faults and fixes the problem areas and we all got DVD’s of our session to bring home and study more and it is no wonder why he is so busy with his coaching academy.

Johnny Williams said ” A session with PJ is always something I look forward to as he helps me to cue smoothly and hit the ball with confidence. His routines make you think about shot selection and we worked on Break Building, Safety and Long Potting and I really enjoyed the whole day.

Brendan O Donoghue said ” My confidence was high after reaching the final last weekend in Donegal but I wanted to come up and get PJ to check my line and cue action. PJ has videos and photos of all the International Players on his laptop so we can monitor what we did before and this is crucial if we are going to be successful in the future ”.
