Last weekend I held my first training camp for 2023 with the Austrian Snooker National Team on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th of February. This camp was again organised by the Austrian Billiards & Snooker Association.
This main goal of the camp was to focus on preparing the Austrian players for the upcoming EBSA Snooker Championships which will be played in Malta next month. There was a great mixture of new juniors and experienced players at this camp and all the players performed excellent.
The Players
The 12 Players were invited to the HSEBC Cue Sports Academy in Vienna for this 2day camp were Mario Bodlos, Elias Kapitany, Oskar Charlesworth, Paul Schopf, Lukas Stötzer, Nikolaus Haslmayr, Emil Becker, Josef Elias Wimmer, Oleksii Rudenko, Arif Hussaini, Benjamin Stoppacher and Florian Nüßle who attended training from 10am to 6pm each day.
The training facilities in the academy were again world class with the HSEBC having all the tables recovered with super fine Strachan match cloth.
High Quality Camp
This camp we again concentrated on the new specific drills in Mini Breaks, Open Breaks, Long Potting, 6 Red Pack, 10 Red Packs and Frame routines where players choose a level and plays a best of 5 match on each drill.
I was very happy with the players training performance on the program and I am confident it will help improve the players in each camp.
Training Results
During the Camp we held a mini match-play and scoring events with long potting and scoring drills. It was Austrian No. 1 and National Champion Florian Nüßle who was in stunning form with 11 victories from 11 matches to win the event with Elias Kapitany in 2nd place and Oskar Charlesworth / Paul Schopf tied in 3rd place.
