This week, I had the pleasure of coaching and training 14-year-old Lukas Stötzer from Linz in Austria. Lukas travelled with his parents to the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow, Ireland to improve his game ahead of the new season and the 2025 European Championships.
Star of the future
In Austria, Lukas is coached WPBSA Coach and leading player Paul Schopf. Lukas is also part of the Austrian National team where I travel to Austria every 2-3 months to hold camps for the Austrian Billiards & Snooker Association, this was the first time we held a one to one camp in Ireland.
I was impressed by this young talented player in every session and it was an honour to work with him. I believe he can develop to be one of the leading top European juniors in the next few years.
2 Day Camp
This 2-day camp was held in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow. The young Austrian was preparing for the upcoming season and I was impressed with his work rate and passion to learn all the various shots, drills and technical information.

Lukas “said it is fantastic to come to Ireland for a one to one coaching session with PJ. The conditions are world class in the Academy. PJ planned out the camp perfectly. I feel my break building skills, shot selection and tactical game really improved.
Training Camp Structure
Lukas was videoed during each session and he brings home all the videos of the action from the sessions to study more by covering all the routines in the main areas.
Practice with Irish Team
Lukas practiced hard with with me for two days and he was then invited to attend the SBI Junior Developmental with Irish International players. Lukas also played a practice match against Aaron Donnelly for vital match practice and he impressed everyone with his overall game.

Despite only being 14years old, Lukas really impressed me with his attitude and commitment when we worked on fine tuning his techniques, break building skills and developing specific routines to work on all areas of his game.
During the sessions I worked on fine tuning his fundamentals by working on his Approach, Grip, Delivery and Rest Shots. We also talked about my programs on becoming mentally stronger.
Training Aids
The latest training aids were used in the camp to enhance the sessions like the Qline, Master Doctor, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get him on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in his delivery.
New Training Plan
Lukas now begins a new training program over the next year which will be monitored with results and feedback from practice and his tournaments. It fantastic to have this top European Junior in my 147academy and I will do everything possible to help develop his game over the next few years.
Thank You
My 147academy would like to thank Lukas and his parents for coming over and I wish him good luck for the future. I look forward to my next Austrian Team camp in September in Vienna where we can discuss how the training plan is going for Lukas.
Auf Wiedersehen
