Last week I held another coaching training camp with 15yr old Nico le Clercq from Budapest in Hungary in the Snooker & Billiards Ireland HQ in Carlow. Nico travelled to Ireland with his dad to prepare for the upcoming 2026 EBSA Snooker Championships which will be held in Spain next week.

Snooker & Billiards Ireland HQ
This camp was again held in the beautiful SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow in the Republic of Ireland. I was so impressed with Nico’s work rate and passion to learn all the various shots, drills and technical information. It is a big honour to have this young talented player in my 147academy as I believe he is one of the top European juniors.

Camp Structure
Nico said “ I feel my game really improved. PJ worked hard on my break building skills, shot selection and tactical game. Nico was videoed during each session, and he brings home all the videos of the action from the sessions to study more in the four main areas in Scoring, Potting and Tactical Game.

Practice with Irish Team
Nico worked on fine tuning his break building skills and we developed specific routines to work on all areas of his game. Nico also practiced match-play matches with Irish players Aaron Donnelly, Scott Cooke, Lorcán Ó Curraoin and James Stewart O’Reilly who are also playing in the European Championships in Spain next week. Nico really impressed me with his attitude and commitment.

During the sessions I worked on his fundamentals by working on his Approach, Delivery, Bridge and Grip. We also talked about programs on the mental side with the academy booklets on becoming mentally stronger.

Training Aids
The latest training aids were used in the camp to enhance the sessions like the Master Doctor, QLine, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get him on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in his delivery.

New Training Plan
Nico now begins a new training program over the next year which will be monitored with results and feedback from practice and his tournaments. It is fantastic to have another top European Junior in my 147academy, and I will do everything possible to help develop his game over the next few years.

Thank You
My 147academy would like to thank Nico for coming over and I wish him good luck for the future. I look forward to seeing him in the EBSA 16’s, 18’s, 21’s and Men’s Championships next week in Spain.
