This week my 147academy had the pleasure of holding a snooker training camp for one of the most exciting European Juniors when 16year old Mykhailo Larkov from Ukraine travelled to the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow, Ireland.
Star of the future
Star of the future Mykhailo came to Ireland to train with PJ after many training sessions held at the EBSA Cue Zones down the years. Mykhailo wanted to improve his game ahead of the 2025 QSchool in England and the 2026 EBSA European Snooker Championships.
This talented 16-year-old who currently lives in Germany has had fantastic results winning the Ukraine National Men’s Snooker Championship and reached QFinals in the recent 2025 European U-21 in Turkey losing to winner Iulian Boiko. He boosts many wins over many of the top European players already in International events.

Mykhailo potting was incredible and he made many high breaks in the camp, he also has fantastic work rate to learn all the drills and technical information. It was another big honour to coach him during this camp.
During all the sessions I worked on fine tuning fundamentals in his technique by working on their Approach, Stance and Delivery. We also talked about his shot selection and cue ball control plus about the mental side on becoming mentally stronger.

PJ said ‘’ Mykhailo is one of the most talented 16year old players ever to train in my academy. I am very confident that he will follow his Ukraine team mate Iulian Boiko onto the WST Professional tour in the near future as talent and hard work gets you success in my eyes and this boy has both’’.

Training Aids
The latest training aids were used in this camp to enhance each session like the Mini Domin Eye, QLine, Blade Cue, Master Doctor, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get him on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in his delivery.
Training Camp Structure
All sessions were videoed and he bring home all the videos of the action from the sessions to study and analyse more. A new training program with specific Scoring / Safety / Long Potting / Tactical drills was designed to help him train better at home.

Mykhailo “said it is fantastic to come to Ireland for this camp with PJ. The SBI Academy is a fantastic place to train and I really enjoyed our camp. PJ planned out a great camp with specific drills each day and they were very good challenges.

New Training Plan
Mykhailo will now begin a new training program which will be monitored with the feedback from his practice sessions. It is really fantastic to have this top European Junior in my 147academy and I will do everything possible to help him develop his game over the next few years.
