Last week I travelled to Bangkok in Thailand with the current World IBSF U-17 Champion Christian Richter from Germany for a training camp in the fantastic Hi-End Snooker Club and the S1 Signature Snooker Club.
The 17yrs old German returned to Thailand to compete in a 3day U-18 ProTech Invitation in the Hi-End Snooker Club. This event featured some of the top young players from all across Asia from Thailand, Malaysia, and Hong Kong.
The standard was incredible and there were a few real stars of the future boys and girls aged from 11yrs to 17yrs and the future looks so good for Asian Snooker.
Cue Zone
I was honoured and asked to hold a 2day PJ Nolan Cue Zone at the event where all the young Asian players practiced two of my drills and the highest total score won the event and the first prize of 5,000 bat which was won by Christian Richter.
The Cue Zone was held in a private room in the Hi-End Snooker Club and I would like to thank all the players for wanting to attend. All the players received a training booklet and i hope they enjoyed the cue zone.
Event Winner
This was the 7th in the series of these ProTech Invitation events and this event was won by Prin Ratsamimukda who defeated a fantastic lady player Jel Saraburi 4-1 in the final to get the first prize of 30,000 baht and a sponsored cue.
I was asked by the sponsors to present all the prizes to the winner, r-up, 3rd, 4th and high break prize by leading pro lady player Mink Nutcharut who conducted the closing ceremony in the Hi-End.
Camp Structure
During this camp, we worked on developing his scoring and focused on his match-play game where we organised practice matches against leading Thai Juniors to work on shot selection and tactical game. We analysed the feedback on reaching the next level for next season.
Christian was videoed during each session and he brings home all the videos to study more. I was very impressed with his work rate as he was brilliant to coach during the camp.
