Last week from the 3rd – 5th January 2024 I held a coaching training camp with 13yr old Nico le Clercq from Budapest in Hungary in the Snooker & Billiards Ireland HQ in Carlow. Nico travelled to Ireland to preparing for the upcoming EBSA Championships in Bosnia in March.
It is a big honour to have this young talented player in my 147academy. I was so impressed by this young Hungarian player in every session and it was a pleasure to work with him as I believe he will one of the top European juniors in the next few years.
3 Day Camp
This 3-day camp was held in my academy home base in the SBI Academy of Excellence in Carlow in the Republic of Ireland. I was so impressed with his work rate and passion to learn all the various shots, drills and technical information.
Nico “said it was fantastic to return to Ireland for coaching with PJ. The conditions were world class and PJ planned out the camp again perfectly. I feel my game really improved in my break building skills, shot selection and long potting.
Structure
Nico was videoed during each session and he brings home all the videos of the action from the sessions to study more covering all the routines in the four main areas in Scoring, Potting and Cue Ball Control and Tactical.
Practice with Irish Team
Nico worked one to one with me for three days and on the final day he was invited to practice against the Irish U-18 players who were having a tournament in Carlow. Nico really impressed me with his attitude and commitment. We worked hard on fine tuning his break building skills, techniques and developing specific routines to work on all areas of his game.
During the sessions I worked on his fundamentals by working on his Approach, Delivery, Bridge and Grip. We also talked about programs on the mental side with the academy booklets on becoming mentally stronger.
Training Aids
The latest training aids were used in the camp to enhance the sessions like the Master Doctor, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser, EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get him on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in his delivery.
New Training Plan
Nico now begins a training program over the next year which will be monitored with results and feedback from practice and his tournaments. It is fantastic to have another top European Junior in my 147academy and I will do everything possible to help develop his game over the next few years.
Thank You
My 147academy would like to thank Nico for coming over and I wish him good luck for the future and I look forward to seeing him in the EBSA Championships in March.
