Last week my 147academy returned to the city of Warsaw in Poland to train the Polish National Snooker Team and prepare them for the 2015 EBSA European Under 21 and Team Championships which is being held in Malta from the 21st of March to the 2nd of April. It is a big honour to train the Polish snooker players and this three day camp was held in the Challenge Snooker Club in Warsaw. Mateusz Baranjowski and Patryk Maslowski , Kasper Filipiak, Karol Lelek, Kamil Zubrzycki, Pawel Rogoza, Marcin Nitschke, Michal Kotiuk all attended the camp which was organised by the Polish Billiards & Snooker Association in helping them prepare for the upcoming Championships in Malta.
The Mind Game
This camp was all about focusing on the mental side of the game on staying in control and being focused on making the correct decisions during the breaks. We concentrated on improving their safety game to force their opponent into to a mistake rather than take on a difficult pot to continue the break which I believe will help them develop into better match players. We trained on my various academy routines to improve their cue ball control, scoring and long potting and match-play which I feel is a crucial area in improving their game even more. All the players received a DVD of their training along with a Sports Psychology audio to work on their mind fitness plus a new Sports Psychology program to use in Malta.
Local EBSA Coach Mateusz Nowak assisted me during the camp and he continues to do a superb job in developing the juniors in Poland. I was impressed by all the Polish players and their commitment was great. Each player will be monitored until the next camp to maximise their development and it is a great honour for me to have this role to train the National Poland team. I would like to thank Mariusz Sikorski Polish Snooker vice Chairman and to the Polish Billiards & Snooker Association for inviting me. Finally I would like to wish Team Poland a very successful European Championship in Malta.
