The 147academy Under 12 RIBSA National Snooker Championship was held on the 7th of May in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow. It was great to see young talented Irish junior players battle it out for my 2017 title. This year it was Leone Crowley from Shooters Snooker Club in Cork who claimed the 147academy National Irish title with a stunning performance.
In the final the 10 year old from Cork beat 11 year old Adam Quinn from Edenderry SC 3 frames to nil in a superb final. The players should be very proud of themselves as the standard of play was very good on the day but Leone was just too sharp. Both semi-finals were very close when Leone beat clubmate James O Connell 2-1 and Adam beat Oisin Bateman from the Kilkenny Shed 2-0 and all the players played stunning snooker on the day.
I really believe this under 12 title will become an important event on the journey for our youngest juniors in becoming the future stars of the game in Ireland. My 147academy will continue to sponsor this event each season and I am so proud that the 147academy U-12 Irish Snooker Championship is getting bigger bigger each season. I would like to thank Referees Pat Mooney and Ger Murray, The Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow for hosting the Championship and RIBSA for holding the final during their Championship weekend.
I want also to thank all the parents and all the players for junior stars for playing in the 2017 Championship. The Championship High Break trophy was also won by Leone Crowley.
