147 Academy Player David Hogan from Borrisokane, Co Tipperary, Ireland created his own piece of Irish Snooker history this weekend on the 13th of April when he made a 147 Break in his second round match against Martin Ruddy in ‘ The Talbot Classic ‘ the 7th RIBSA Senior Ranking Event of the Republic Of Ireland Snooker Series in the Ivy Rooms Snooker Club in Carlow.
David is having a great 2012 – 2013 snooker season where he is his ranked number one on the Irish tour for the season after winning the first ranking event back in October. As David’s Coach I was delighted to see him achieve the Maximum break. David has made numerous 147 breaks in practice but it is more special making it in an official RIBSA Ranking event, David joins players like John Buckley and Martin McCrudden who have made the perfect maximum break in RIBSA events in the past.
David had earlier predicted the 147 to his girlfriend Laura on the way up to the tournament after making a 147 break on the Wednesday night and had a few near 147’s misses also while practicing during the week.
In his first round match he made a 127 break and he felt really good. In his second match he made the 147 break and said the highlight of the break was the fifteenth black from along the blue spot line. David said, after I potted the black I finished perfectly on the yellow to achieve the 147 and I followed the break with a 143 break in the next frame. My 147 academy would like to congratulate him on his fantastic maximum break.
