Last weekend I held an International training workshop with the Austrian Snooker National Team on Saturday 21st and Sunday 22nd of October 2023. This two-day camp was held in HSEBC Cue Sports Academy in Vienna and was organised by the Austrian Billiards & Snooker Association.
This main goal of the camp was to focus on preparing the Austrian players for the upcoming IBSF World Snooker Championships which will be played in Qatar and the four Nations Billiards which will be held in Austria next month.
The Players
There was a great mixture of juniors and experienced players at this camp with Philipp Koch, Jerome Liedtke, Oskar Charlesworth, Paul Schopf, Lukas Stötzer, Günter Kaschmitter, Nikolaus Haslmayer, Maximilian Pfleger, Arif Hussaini, Emil Becker, Josef Elias Wimmer, Thomas Janzso, Christian Pleschko and Emil Becker attended training from 10am to 6pm each day.
All the players performed excellent and the training facilities in the academy were world class in the HSEBC with super fine Strachan match cloth.
High Quality Camp
This camp we concentrated on the specific drills in Mini Breaks, Open Breaks, Long Potting, 6 Red Pack, 10 Red Packs and Frame routines. I was very happy with the players training performance on the program and I am confident it will help improve the players in each camp.
Training Results
On Day 1 of the Camp we held a mini scoring and tactical event with Thomas Janzso winning with Maximilian Pfleger in second place. On Day 2 of the Camp, we held a match-play event played in three groups with Emil Becker, Thomas Janzso and Arif Hussaini winning each group.
Coaching Program
All the players received a copy of the new Mental Training booklet plus each player had their technique profiled with key points to work on during training sessions at home.
Seminars Mental and physical
National Coach Chau Zi Kim gave a Mental Training seminar to the players on helping to become mentally stronger plus qualified fitness coach Daniel Seyser held a fitness session for the players on both days.
Training Aids
I had all the latest training aids to enhance the sessions like the Mini Domin Eye, Master Doctor, Str8aim SA-1 & SA-2, Chris Henry Balls, Academy laser and the EBSA Coaching Balls to help to get the players on the line of aim and develop a smoother stroke in their delivery.
Thank You
I would personally like to thank the Austrian Association for inviting me to work with the National Team and I am already looking forward to holding six more camps in 2024.
I would like to thank Austrian President Christian Fock plus National Coach Chau Zi Kim and Daniel Seyser along with the HSEBC Academy for their assistance during this camp.
Good Luck
Finally, I would like to wish all the players good luck in the IBSF Snooker Championships and in the 4 Nations Billiards Event. It was a pleasure to training everyone again, keep on training hard and believe in yourself.
See you all in December.
Auf Wiedersehen
